An impulse decision changed Annette’s life.
On the spur of the moment, she picked up some RSL Art Union tickets with her groceries.
Just 3 months later, she picked up the keys to her $6 million prize home!
"I thought it was a hoax!"
A cattle farmer from Far North Queensland, Annette was at a bull sale when she got the news she least expected.
“The phone kept ringing,” she recalled of the day she won.
“We were busy at the time and I didn't know the number. I said to my husband, ‘I'll deal with it later’.
“Then there was an email and I'm thinking, "I may have won something.”
That something was the ultimate $6.2 million beach house choice: either a magnificent oceanfront house in Sydney’s exclusive Palm Beach, or a breathtaking, absolute beachfront home in Tugun on the beautiful southern Gold Coast.
She chose the Gold Coast home and, not long after, got to see it for the first time – with her and her daughters’ awed reactions captured on national TV, and three-time Olympic gold medallist Stephanie Rice handing over the keys.
Speechless
Only after seeing her stunning, custom-built beach house, with its uninterrupted ocean views, did Annette finally start to believe it.
“When we drove in and saw it, I was like, ‘Okay, this is real’.”
Her first impressions?
“Everything is just beautiful,” Annette said. “I can't describe it. I'm speechless about it.
“I can’t get over the view. The beach is just right there. It’s amazing!”
The Ultimate Holiday Home
Having never taken a beach holiday before, Annette now has the ultimate reason to do so!
Bathed in light and space, and professionally styled with $282,499 worth of furniture and appliances, her luxurious beach house includes four bedrooms, two living areas, a designer kitchen with butler’s pantry, and a stunning pool and alfresco area with direct access to the sand.
It will be a welcome retreat from life on the farm – a retreat where Annette’s family is looking forward to “just relaxing and doing nothing”.
“Now we know we can say, ‘We're going down to the house and having a break’,” she said.
“It will be nice knowing that we've got something that we can come to. We don't have to book it; we can just come when we want.
“We’re just going to enjoy it.”

Annette was only two draws into her VIP Club subscription when she struck it lucky.
After buying the odd ticket in previous years, she signed up to the VIP Club on a whim, buying $30 worth of tickets per draw that would land her a $6,293,715 prize PLUS a book buyer’s bonus of $30,000 in gold.
Once her tickets were guaranteed in the draw, Annette said she “honestly didn't think any more of it”.
“And then I won! I was like, ‘Oh my God, people really win these things!’. I couldn't believe it.
“I’m very thankful. I never imagined winning anything like this, and it’s just beautiful.”
A Great Cause
