1. Introduction
Gambling is an enjoyable leisure activity for many Australians and the RSL Art Union has prepared this Player Information Guide to assist you to make informed decisions on your gambling. It contains information on government regulations, gambling products and services offered by the RSL Art Union, player return rates and chances of winning and some basic suggestions to help you enjoy gambling within your means. The Guide supports the Queensland Responsible Gambling Code of Practice and supporting documentation (Queensland Responsible Gambling Resource Manual and Responsible Gambling Policy) in the responsible provision of gambling products and services by the RSL Art Union.
2. Government Regulations
All gambling products and services are regulated by government agencies, particularly the Queensland Office of Gaming Regulation. This means that charitable and non-profit gaming activities are covered by specific legislation. The Charitable and Non-Profit Gaming Act 1999 covers charitable gaming activities. Category 3 providers (gross proceeds per game in excess of $20,000) are also required to meet strict licensing requirements.
3. Charitable and Non-Profit Gambling Products and Services
Charitable and non-profit activities covered by this section of the Resource Manual include the following gambling products and services:
- Art unions and
- Calcutta sweeps
4. Chances of Winning Art Unions
The chances of winning will depend on the number of tickets actually sold. Please feel free to ask the RSL Art Union for details.
5. Basic Suggestions to Enjoy Gambling Within Your Means
Only you can decide how much time and money you want to spend on gambling. You should spend only what you can afford to lose. When gambling on charitable and non-profit activities, you should remember that these games are products of chance and randomness and there is no guarantee that you will achieve the winning outcomes any of the time.
