Prize Home Draws FAQs

Are all of your prize homes new?

Arrow icon

The majority of RSL Prize Homes are built brand new, while some are existing homes, expertly renovated. In both instances RSL Queensland works closely with our accredited partners in the building industry to ensure the highest quality of standards are maintained.

When are your prize homes open for viewing?

Arrow icon

Due to current government guidelines in response to COVID-19, and the location and popularity of our prize homes, RSL Queensland has deemed opening prize homes to the public a potential health risk to members of our community.

As a result our prize homes are temporarily closed to public viewing. This is to ensure the health and safety of our customers and contributors, which remains our top priority.

RSL Queensland will continue to assess this risk into the future as new health guidelines are provided.

Do I have to pay tax on the first prize if I win?

Arrow icon

Prizes won in our draws needn't be declared for tax purposes unless you profit from selling or parting with them.

Assets won in our draws can be sold at the prize value completely tax-free. If you sell an asset at a higher rate than its value, then capital gains tax may apply on the difference.

More detailed information can be found via the Australian Taxation Office.

Please note this is not financial advice. We advise all our prize winners to seek professional financial advice to fully understand any tax implications.

Where is the draw held?

Arrow icon

RSL Art Union draws are held at RSL Queensland Head Office or as specified in the terms and conditions for each draw. (If you would like to review this information, the disclosure statement is located on the back of your ticket, on our promotional brochures and on our website.)

Due to current government guidelines in response to COVID-19, and the physical limitations of the location in which the draw is conducted, RSL Queensland has deemed opening draws to the public a potential health risk to members of our community.

As a result draws are temporarily closed to the public. This is to ensure the health and safety of our customers and contributors, which remains our top priority.

Of course, each draw is still subject to all the usual controls, including being supervised by an external auditor. As usual, draw results will be published online, on Facebook and Instagram.

We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you back at a later date.
